Somalia assures cooperation after kidnapping of Pakistani crew

The government of Somalia has assured Pakistan of full cooperation following the kidnapping of more than 10 Pakistani crew members by Somali pirates, diplomatic sources said.

According to officials, Somalia has provided a written assurance to assist in the safe recovery and repatriation of the Pakistani nationals who were taken hostage after pirates seized the oil tanker Honour 25. The vessel was hijacked off the Somali coast, with several Pakistani crew members among those held captive, including individuals from Karachi.

Pakistan had formally raised the issue with Somali authorities, seeking immediate support and intervention to ensure the safe release of its citizens. In response, the Somali government pledged to work closely with Pakistani officials and relevant international stakeholders to resolve the situation.
